Agartala, June 05: The state transport and tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Thursday attended an awareness programme on Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan at Majlishpur in Jirania subdivision and said that the campaign is a significant move to double farmers’ income through modern and scientific agricultural practices.
The minister also flagged of a Krishi Rath-a mobile agricultural outreach van, as part of the awareness campaign and said that the mega outreach campaign aims to directly connect with farmers across the country ahead of the pre-Kharif season.
“In our state, teams of three expert agricultural scientists have been deployed in 8 districts, visiting 864 villages (107 villages per district), and directly interacting with over 1.72 lakh farmers through awareness and training sessions,” he said.
The Krishi Rath mobile van will travel across the region of Majlishpur assembly constituency to deliver scientific agricultural knowledge and support directly to farmers’ doorsteps.
The central government has launched a 15-day nationwide campaign titled “Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan”. The initiative is jointly organized by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), and the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare. This special outreach campaign, being conducted from May 29 to June 12 next.
