Agartala: April 22: The Youth Congress has staged a protest against the cancellation of the recruitment process for firefighter and driver positions in the fire department. Leaders and workers of the organization participated in a march that began at Congress Bhavan and moved through various city streets. During the demonstration, clashes reportedly occurred between protesters and the police, leading to the detention of the demonstrators at the AD Nagar Police Line grounds.

Youth Congress President Neelkamal Saha expressed concerns over the impact of the cancellation on the youth. He alleged that the BJP government frequently halts recruitment processes, jeopardizing the future of young individuals. Saha highlighted that a recruitment notice for the Tripura Fire Service was issued in 2022, followed by physical and written examinations. However, the process was abruptly canceled this year, raising questions about potential corruption.

Saha called for an investigation into the matter and demanded accountability for the alleged wastage of three years of the candidates’ lives. He urged for immediate action against those responsible for the cancellation.
