Agartala, June 10: A delegation of the CPI(M) submitted a deputation of a 7-point charter of demands with the Assistant Municipal Commissioner of the North Zone of the Agartala Municipal Corporation and demanded the government to address the flood situation effectively and ensure assistance to the flood victims.

The demand mainly included relief for flood affected families, where the CPI(M) demanded immediate distribution of relief materials to families whose homes have been submerged or damaged due to the flood.

The party further demanded the concerned administration to reissue important documents of the flood victims including ration cards, Aadhaar cards, and voter ID cards which have been damaged or lost in the flood.

The demand also includes medical camps by the health department to prevent the outbreak of diseases, clean water supply, improvement of drainage system, and others.

The party however called on the municipal administration to act swiftly to alleviate the suffering of the flood-hit population.
