Agartala, July 25: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday laid the foundation stone of tourism infrastructure at Chaturdash Devta Temple and Kashbeswari Temple and stated that this is a major step towards promoting religious tourism and preserving the cultural legacy of the state.
Tripura, known for its rich and vibrant Sanatan heritage, is home to several royal-era religious and cultural landmarks. Among these, two of the most prominent are the Kasbeswari Temple at Kamalasagar, established by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya, and the Chaturdash Devta Bari at Khayerpur, founded by Maharaja Krishna Kishore Manikya.
Dr Saha said, “Under financial assistance from the Asian Development Bank, a modern and tourist-friendly infrastructure will be developed at Kamalasagar Kasba, with a total investment of ₹18.78 crore, while the Chaturdash Devta Bari in Khayerpur will see infrastructure development worth ₹13.63 crore.”
“These projects aim to enhance the spiritual and historical appeal of these heritage sites by incorporating modern facilities, thereby attracting more pilgrims and tourists. The improved infrastructure is also expected to boost local employment and contribute positively to the regional economy,” Dr Saha stated.
