Agartala, Aug 08: The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the allocation of ₹250 crore for the development of socio-economic status if the indigenous tribes of the state of Tripura.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has shared the decision of union cabinet and stated that the sanction has come up as per the Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) signed between the Government of India, the Government of Tripura, and the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) groups.
The funds will be utilized for the development of the state’s tribal communities, particularly those vulnerable and marginalized groups who have been unable to benefit from existing government schemes.
According to the decision, the allocation will support initiatives aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of these communities. This includes livelihood generation for youth and women, employment opportunities, better healthcare services, enhanced education and skill development, and measures to increase household income.
Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha expressed his gratitude to the Union Cabinet for this initiative, describing it as a significant step toward inclusive growth and lasting peace in the state.
