Agartala, Aug 20: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has informed Parliament that four railway stations in Tripura—Agartala, Dharmanagar, Kumarghat, and Udaipur—have been identified for development under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, said former Chief Minister and presently Loksabha MP Biplap Kumar Deb on Wednesday.
Deb said that the union minister stated this while replying to the query raised in the parliament. The scheme aims at long-term modernization of railway stations with a focus on improved services and enhanced passenger amenities.
According to Deb, the union minister also stated that the pace of railway development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has increased nearly 6.5 times compared to the UPA regime.
As per the latest update on works in Tripura, as shared by Deb, lift installation has been completed in Agartala railway station, while work on a 12-metre foot over bridge and station building is underway.
In Dharmanagar station, platform shelter, approach road, and boundary wall completed and work initiated on circulating area, 12-metre foot over bridge, and escalator. In Kumarghat Station, development of 12-metre foot over bridge, circulating area, approach road, new waiting hall, and platform shelter is taken up and in Udaipur Station, work on 12-metre foot over bridge, waiting hall, and toilet facilities are presently underway.
The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is expected to significantly upgrade infrastructure and passenger comfort in Tripura’s key railway stations.
