Agartala, August 22: The state government has announced a major revision in the “Mukhyamantri Antyodaya Shradhanjali Yojana”, increasing the one-time financial grant from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 10,000. The scheme is implemented under the Education (Social Welfare & Social Education) Department and aims to extend dignified support to families belonging to the economically weaker sections.

Briefing the media at the state secretariat, Social Welfare & Social Education Minister Sushanta Choudhury said the decision reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring social security and welfare for the poorest of the poor. He noted that funeral expenses often create an additional burden on underprivileged families, and the enhanced financial assistance will provide much-needed relief at such critical moments.

Minister Choudhury highlighted that the increase in grant amount was made keeping in mind current economic realities and the rising cost of essential services. “The state government under Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha is committed to supporting every section of society, especially those in distress. The revised grant amount will make the scheme more meaningful and impactful,” he said.

He further assured that the process of availing the benefit will remain simple and transparent so that eligible families can access the financial aid without difficulty. The department is also working on awareness initiatives to ensure maximum coverage and timely delivery of benefits.

The minister reiterated that the government’s welfare policies are focused on inclusive growth, compassion, and human dignity. The revision in the “Mukhyamantri Antyodaya Shradhanjali Yojana” is expected to benefit thousands of families across Tripura, strengthening the social safety net of the state and aligning with the broader vision of building a welfare-oriented administration.
