Agartala, Aug 24: Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Sunday underscored the pivotal role of engineers in driving Tripura’s infrastructure development and shaping the state’s future.
Addressing the 19th Annual General Meeting of the Indian Building Congress (IBC) Tripura Centre at the PWD Conference Hall, Netaji Chowmuhani, Chowdhury said that while governments can sanction projects, their success depends entirely on the dedication and efficiency of engineers.
“The state can take up ambitious plans, but only through the hard work and commitment of our engineers can those plans be turned into reality. They are the backbone of Tripura’s development,” the minister said.
Invoking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Act East Policy, Chowdhury highlighted that Tripura, strategically located with Bangladesh on three sides, has been a key beneficiary of the double-engine government. He stressed that infrastructure should extend beyond roads and buildings to include railways, waterways, and national highways for holistic progress.
On regional connectivity, Chowdhury voiced concern over the suspension of major India-Bangladesh projects at Nischintapur and Sabroom, despite investments worth thousands of crores. “We have always considered Bangladesh a brotherly neighbor. Though current ties are strained, we hope harmony and prosperity will soon return,” he remarked.
Chowdhury urged all stakeholders, especially engineers, to work in unison to realize the Prime Minister’s vision of making India a Vishwa Guru.
