A high-level delegation from the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of Mizoram, visited the State Agricultural Research Centre at Arundhutinagar, Tripura, on December 18, 2025, to review ongoing research activities and exchange knowledge on natural and scientific farming practices.
The delegation was led by Mr. R. Lalnunzira, Director, Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of Mizoram, and comprised seven senior officials. Upon arrival, the team was accorded a warm welcome with traditional uttariyas and floral bouquets by the Joint Director of the Research Centre, Dr. Uttam Saha, along with other senior officers and scientists.
The visit began with a detailed PowerPoint presentation highlighting the diverse research initiatives, achievements, and innovations undertaken by the State Agricultural Research Centre. Scientists from various disciplines presented progress reports on their respective research areas and outlined future plans aimed at benefiting farmers across Tripura. Special emphasis was laid on farmer-centric research, sustainable agriculture, and the promotion of natural farming practices.
The visiting officials expressed keen interest in the Centre’s work and appreciated the systematic approach adopted to address farmers’ needs. Mr. Lalnunzira and his team interacted extensively with scientists, reviewing the quality of research and commending the Centre’s contribution towards strengthening the agricultural sector.
In the second phase of the visit, the delegation toured the Centre’s natural farming demonstration farm. They lauded the scientific and innovative initiatives taken under the Government of India–approved project and praised the efforts to promote eco-friendly and sustainable cultivation practices.
The delegation also visited the State Soil Testing Laboratory and the State Seed Testing Laboratory, where detailed discussions were held on soil health management, seed quality assurance, and laboratory functioning. The Mizoram officials expressed satisfaction over the integrated efforts of the Research Centre and acknowledged its role in advancing agricultural development.
Impressed by the Centre’s achievements, the delegation conveyed its intent to explore the possibility of adopting similar initiatives in Mizoram. The visit concluded with scientists of the Research Centre expressing gratitude to the delegation for their keen interest and valuable interactions, marking the visit as a significant step towards inter-state collaboration in agricultural research and development.
