Agartala:
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday reaffirmed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is preparing to contest all 28 seats in the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections. He clarified that the party’s state-level alliance with Tipra Motha does not extend to the ADC areas, where BJP has been functioning as a responsible opposition since the last elections.

Addressing media queries about a possible joint contest with Tipra Motha in the TTAADC, Dr. Saha said, “The alliance between BJP and Tipra Motha exists exclusively at the state level and in the Assembly. In TTAADC, BJP and Tipra Motha are not together. Any discussion on collaboration, if necessary, will be held at a later stage. For now, we are focusing on our own strength.”

The Chief Minister spoke after a strategic meeting with senior party leaders regarding the forthcoming ADC elections. Present at the meeting were BJP Tripura Pradesh President Rajib Bhattacharjee, General Secretary Bipin Debbarma, and other key leaders.

Dr. Saha elaborated that the meeting focused on matters of organisational strategy, including campaign planning in rural areas, role assignments, and overall preparation to ensure smooth execution of the party’s electoral strategy.

On the party’s poll agenda, the Chief Minister emphasized that development remains the BJP’s sole poll plank. He noted that the recent mass joining programmes in ADC areas reflect the voters’ desire for change. “Several local parties have governed the ADC administration in the past, and people have realised that a national party must form the government in the council,” he said.

Dr. Saha also criticised opposition parties for allegedly misrepresenting statements of BJP leaders campaigning in the ADC regions, adding, “The result will speak loud and clear.”

With preparations underway and a focus on grassroots outreach, BJP aims to consolidate its presence in TTAADC while projecting development and governance as its key electoral message.
