Agartala, February 23: Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma on Monday visited the under-construction modern synthetic football ground at Lembucherra, located within his constituency, to assess the progress of the ongoing work. During the inspection, he interacted with officials and contractors and directed them to ensure timely completion of the project without compromising on quality standards.

The minister emphasized that the upcoming state-of-the-art sports infrastructure is expected to serve as a major boost for aspiring footballers and sports enthusiasts in the region. He underlined that such facilities are essential for nurturing local talent and providing young athletes with an appropriate platform to hone their skills. According to him, access to modern sports infrastructure not only enhances performance but also contributes significantly to the physical and mental well-being of youth.

Debbarma expressed satisfaction over the pace of construction but reiterated the need for strict adherence to deadlines and technical specifications. He stressed that quality workmanship and proper maintenance planning would be key to ensuring the long-term utility of the synthetic turf ground.

Highlighting the broader vision behind the initiative, the minister stated that the government remains committed to guiding young people towards constructive and positive engagement. He noted that sports play a vital role in shaping discipline, teamwork, and confidence among youth.

Debbarma further expressed confidence that once operational, the football ground will open up greater opportunities for local players to compete at district, state, and even national levels. The project, he said, reflects the government’s determination to build a strong, healthy, and promising future generation through focused investment in sports infrastructure.
