Agartala: In a vibrant celebration of women’s strength, perseverance and achievements, a special programme titled “Sunrise Birangana” was held on Monday evening at the Agartala Press Club. The event honoured 20 distinguished women from across Tripura for their outstanding contributions in different fields of society.
The programme also recognised the achievements of the Sports School women’s football team and the Agiye Cholo Sangha women’s cricket team, who were presented with the Sunrise Birangana award for their accomplishments in sports.
Social worker Nilanjana Ghosh attended the programme as the chief guest. Among the special guests were Pranab Sarkar, President of the Agartala Press Club, and Sanjay Pal, Chairman of the Bhupendra Chandra Dutta Bhowmik Trust, along with several other prominent personalities.
Organisers said the initiative was aimed at recognising women who quietly contribute to building the foundations of society through their dedication and hard work. They emphasised that many women continue to set inspiring examples in their respective fields despite numerous challenges.
One of the major highlights of the event was a musical performance by Meghbalika, Tripura’s first all-women band. The Agartala-based group captivated the audience with their energetic performance, adding a unique cultural dimension to the celebration of women’s empowerment.
During the ceremony, brief accounts of the struggles, dedication and achievements of the 20 awardees were shared with the audience. Speakers at the event said that women today are making remarkable strides in every sector and programmes like this help encourage them to continue moving forward with confidence.
In their speeches, the chief guest and other dignitaries highlighted that women are no longer behind in any field and are playing a crucial role in shaping society and the nation.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by organiser Santosh Gop. The hall of the Agartala Press Club was filled to capacity with guests and well-wishers, making the evening a memorable celebration of women’s achievements and inspiration.
