In a notable academic achievement, Dr. Basudeb Bhattacharya, Assistant Professor at Bir Bikram Memorial College, and Shri Jeet Bhattacharya, Manager at Tripura Gramin Bank, jointly received the “Best Paper Award” during the 5th technical session of a two-day national seminar. The seminar was organized by the Department of Commerce in collaboration with the North East India Commerce and Management Association.
The seminar, held on April 10 and 11, 2026, revolved around the theme “Vision 2047: Business, Entrepreneurship and Socio-Economic Transformation of India.” It witnessed enthusiastic participation from researchers and academicians from across the country. A total of 64 research papers were presented across six technical sessions, reflecting a strong national-level academic engagement.
Apart from the award-winning duo, Best Paper Awards in the remaining five technical sessions were conferred on Subal Rudra Paul and Dr. Sunil Kumar; Udishna Bhattacharya, Tullika Matak and Mayuri Bhattacharya; Mrs. Shilpi Das Sarkar; Khushi Barman and Dr. Bhupal Bhattacharya; and Dr. Debadrita Deb and Dr. Annesha Saha.
Dr. Basudeb Bhattacharya and Shri Jeet Bhattacharya were recognized for their research paper titled “Expected Credit Loss Framework under Ind AS-109 in Regional Rural Banks (RRBs): A VECM Analysis Supporting India’s Vision 2047.” The paper was highly appreciated for its analytical depth and its relevance in strengthening the future framework of rural banking and financial stability.
The session chair lauded the research for its innovative and forward-looking approach, noting that it addresses a critical area that has not yet been fully implemented in India’s banking system. The study was described as both timely and impactful, offering valuable insights for policymakers to enhance credit risk assessment mechanisms.
According to the chair’s observations, the proposed framework has the potential to bring about significant transformation in India’s financial system, particularly in improving the efficiency and transparency of credit risk management.
The valedictory session on April 11 was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Prof. A. Rajmani Singh (Secretary, NEICMA), Dr. Sumanta Chakraborty (Registrar, MBB University), Jyotiprasad Debbarma (Controller of Examinations, MBB University), Dr. Mihir Pal (Principal, BBM College), Dr. Sujit Das (Organizing Secretary), and Dr. Rupak Das (Secretary, Teachers’ Council, BBM College).
This achievement is seen as a proud moment for Tripura, highlighting the growing academic excellence and research capabilities of the region.
