Agartala, May 4: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Monday termed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) strong performance in West Bengal as “a victory of the entire nation,” linking the outcome to broader issues of national security, economic stability, and governance.

Speaking on the sidelines of a BJP victory rally in Agartala, Saha said the mandate was “not just Bengal’s victory, but India’s victory,” adding that it reflects public support for development, stability, and stronger governance. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP president J.P. Nadda, for steering a coordinated nationwide campaign.

Saha highlighted the extensive involvement of party leaders and workers, including those from Tripura, in campaigning across West Bengal. He claimed that early trends indicate a strong pro-BJP sentiment across regions.

Taking aim at previous governments, Saha alleged that West Bengal had suffered from “years of corruption and administrative decline” under both Left and Trinamool Congress regimes. He accused them of failing to ensure transparency, democratic rights, and women’s safety.

Praising the Election Commission of India, Saha said the polls were conducted in a “free and fair” manner, contrasting them with past elections he claimed were marred by irregularities.

On national security, he reiterated concerns over illegal infiltration from Bangladesh and said the BJP remains committed to strengthening border security and addressing undocumented migration.

Drawing comparisons with Tripura, Saha pointed to the implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission after 2018 as an example of governance reforms that could benefit West Bengal.

He also welcomed BJP’s emphatic lead in the Dharmanagar by-election, calling it a strong endorsement of the state government’s policies. Saha said the NDA’s growing presence in states like Assam and Puducherry reflects expanding national support, expressing confidence in sustained political momentum.
