Agartala, June 1: Union Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday conducted a comprehensive review of Tripura’s power sector and emphasized the need for accelerated reforms to ensure reliable and uninterrupted electricity supply across the state.

The review meeting was held at the State Guest House Sonar Tori in Agartala and was attended by Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Urban Development Secretary Abhishek Singh, senior officials of the Power Department, and representatives of the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL).

During the meeting, the Union Minister reviewed the progress of ongoing power sector projects and discussed future development plans aimed at strengthening the state’s electricity infrastructure. Detailed deliberations were held on modernization of power networks, enhancement of service quality, expansion of consumer-friendly initiatives, and the adoption of advanced technologies to improve efficiency and reliability.

Khattar stressed the importance of building a robust and future-ready power system capable of meeting the growing energy demands of the state. He also provided guidance on several strategic measures to improve power distribution, reduce technical losses, enhance operational efficiency, and promote sustainable growth in the sector.

Officials presented updates on key projects, including infrastructure upgrades, grid modernization efforts, and initiatives to improve power accessibility in both urban and rural areas. The discussions also focused on ensuring quality power supply and strengthening the overall power ecosystem to support Tripura’s economic development.

Speaking after the meeting, Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath described the review as highly productive and significant for the future of the state’s power sector. He said the Union Minister’s guidance and support would help accelerate ongoing reforms and strengthen efforts to provide efficient and dependable electricity services to consumers.

The meeting reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to supporting Tripura’s infrastructure development and highlighted the importance of a modern and resilient power sector in driving the state’s growth and improving public welfare.
