Agartala, July 30, 2026: In a significant step towards strengthening the financial security and welfare of government employees, the Tripura Gramin Bank (TGB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Finance Department of the Government of Tripura. The agreement was signed at the Civil Secretariat in Agartala on Thursday.

Under the agreement, government employees receiving their salaries through Tripura Gramin Bank under its Salary Package Scheme will be entitled to a range of exclusive banking benefits, including free personal accident insurance coverage of up to Rs 2.5 crore.

According to the terms of the MoU, both regular and contractual government employees whose salaries are credited through Tripura Gramin Bank will be eligible for the insurance cover without having to pay any premium. The bank will bear the entire cost of the insurance, ensuring that employees receive financial protection at no additional expense.

Tripura Gramin Bank stated that the insurance package is the highest personal accident insurance coverage currently offered by any bank to government employees in Tripura. The initiative is aimed at providing greater financial security to employees and their families in the event of unforeseen accidents.

In addition to the insurance benefit, government employees enrolled under the Salary Package Scheme will have access to a range of modern banking services and special financial products. These include convenient digital banking facilities, attractive loan options, and other customer-focused banking solutions designed to meet the financial needs of salaried employees.

Bank officials described the MoU as an important milestone in promoting the welfare of government employees and enhancing the overall banking experience for its customers. They said the agreement reflects the bank’s commitment to offering innovative and value-added financial services while contributing to the socio-economic development of the state.

Tripura Gramin Bank further stated that it will continue to introduce customer-centric banking initiatives and welfare-oriented schemes in collaboration with the state government. The bank reaffirmed its commitment to delivering modern, reliable and inclusive banking services while supporting the financial well-being of government employees.

Officials believe that the new initiative will significantly enhance the financial protection available to thousands of government employees across Tripura, providing them with greater confidence and security. The partnership between the Finance Department and Tripura Gramin Bank is expected to strengthen employee welfare and encourage wider adoption of modern banking services throughout the state.
