Agartala, June 30: In a heart-warming and memorable event, the Agartala Press Club on Monday felicitated the children of working journalists and photojournalists who successfully passed this year’s Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations. The ceremony, held at the Press Club auditorium, marked the first-ever initiative of its kind by the organization.

A total of 16 meritorious students were honoured in the presence of proud parents, family members, and esteemed guests. The event celebrated not only academic achievements but also the spirit of encouragement and community among media professionals.

Senior editor Subal Kumar Dey, veteran journalists Shekhar Dutta and Jayanta Bhattacharya, Press Club President Pranab Sarkar, and Vice-President Chitra Roy graced the occasion. Awards were presented by Secretary Ramakanta Dey, Joint Secretaries Kamal Choudhury and Abhishek Dey, Treasurer Ranjan Roy, and executive members including Abhishek Debbarma, Mihir Sarkar, Santosh Gope, and Biswajit Dey. Senior members Alok Ghosh and Surajit Pal were also present.

In his welcome speech, Secretary Ramakanta Dey highlighted the significance of recognizing young achievers and reaffirmed the club’s commitment to nurturing the next generation. The auditorium was filled with applause and joy as students received a memento, a sapling, and a cash prize as tokens of appreciation.

Dignitaries urged the students to pursue their goals with determination and integrity while also reminding them to uphold family values and ensure the well-being of their parents in later life.

Following the ceremony, a lunch was hosted for all attendees. The Press Club’s executive committee announced that this felicitation will become an annual tradition to celebrate and encourage the children of journalists.
