Agartala, September 8: In a significant administrative move, the Tripura government has announced a large-scale reshuffle within the state police department. A total of 43 officials have been transferred and posted across various units with immediate effect. The decision, issued by the Department of Personnel & Training, has been taken “in the interest of public service” to enhance operational efficiency and law enforcement.
Among the key appointments, DIG Krishnendu Chakravarty, who was overseeing Crime, Intelligence & Security, has been elevated to IGP (Intelligence & Security) and will also handle the responsibilities of SP (Special Branch). DIG Sanjoy Roy, previously in charge of Training and KTDS, has been reassigned as DIG (Crime), while DIG Prabir Majumder, serving at Headquarters, will now additionally supervise Training activities.
A notable development includes the transfer of Commandant CIAT Kachucherra, Dilip Ray, who has been directed to report to the Manipur government as a replacement for the retired officer Subrata Chakraborty.
At the operational level, several officers have been reshuffled to key posts:
Timir Das has been moved from SP (MTF) to Commandant of the West Tripura Home Guard Battalion, Kallol Roy has been assigned as SP (MTF) with additional charge of STF and Crime Branch, coming from his post as Commandant (SAF).
Other appointments at the SP level include: Bikash Deb as SP (SCRB), Ranadhir Debbarma as AIGP (Law & Order), Shyamanda Sharma as SP (Anti-Narcotics), Jeremia Darong as SP (Vigilance).
District and sub-divisional postings have also been revised: Rahul Bahalara is now SP of Dhalai, Pannalal Sen has been posted as SDPO Teliamura, Kamal Krishna Das as SDPO Jirania, In Agartala, Aroop Goswami has assumed charge as Addl. SP (TPC&B).
The government has emphasized that the reshuffle aims to bolster administrative responsiveness and ensure greater coordination in tackling law and order challenges across the state.
