Agartala, Oct 9 — The six-member delegation of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) concluded its two-day visit to Tripura on Thursday, submitting a three-point charter of demands to the Governor’s Office. In the absence of Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu, the memorandum was received by his secretary, Uttam Kumar Chakma.

Speaking to the media after the submission, TMC leader Kunal Ghosh said, “Due to the governor’s absence and our tight schedule, we couldn’t meet him personally, but his secretary gave us a patient hearing. We submitted a detailed memorandum seeking prompt action against those who launched an unprovoked attack on our party’s state headquarters.”

Ghosh outlined the party’s three key demands. “Our first and foremost demand is action against those involved in the attack on our party office. Their identities are known, and even the BJP has admitted its role in sponsoring the violence. We want the police to take immediate legal action,” he stated.

The second demand concerns updates on earlier police cases against miscreants, including those who attacked the convoy of AITC General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee. “A police station was attacked in broad daylight, and the visuals are still on social media. Yet, there has been no progress. Police must act lawfully,” Ghosh asserted.

The third demand calls for proper safety and security of TMC leaders and workers in Tripura. “Supporters of Mamata Banerjee’s vision should not face political persecution. Leaders from Tripura move freely in Bengal; we demand the same treatment here,” he added.

On the party’s organizational expansion, Ghosh said both Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee are closely monitoring developments in Tripura and will take appropriate decisions at the right time.

Notably, the Tripura TMC unit has been functioning without a state president since the resignation of senior advocate Pijush Biswas.
