Editorial Policy & Ethics Guidelines
Tripur Live is committed to rigorous, independent, and ethical journalism. Our reporting directly affects public awareness across the State of Tripura and Northeast India. This document outlines the binding ethical standards and editorial procedures practiced across all our desks.
Our guiding core: Accuracy precedes speed, balance supersedes sensationalism, and truth serves the public interest.
1. Fact-Checking & Sourcing Requirements
Every report published by Tripur Live undergoes verification before publication:
- Primary Sources First: Reporters must prioritize primary documentation, eyewitness interviews, verified data, and direct quotes from designated officials.
- Two-Source Rule: Unofficial claims or controversial allegations must be verified by a minimum of two independent, credible sources before publishing.
- Anonymous Sources: Granted only when the safety or livelihood of the source is at risk and the information is of critical public importance. The reporter must disclose the identity to the Managing Editor.
- Attribution: Information obtained from other news organizations, press agencies, or government releases is always credited explicitly.
2. Fairness & Right of Reply
When an article contains critical allegations or scrutiny targeting an individual, organization, or political entity, our journalists must make reasonable attempts to contact the subject for comment prior to publication. If a response is received, it is incorporated equitably. If no response is received, the story explicitly notes that comment was sought.
3. Corrections & Clarifications Policy
Trust is sustained through accountability. When an error of fact occurs:
- The error is corrected immediately upon verification.
- A visible correction note is placed at the bottom or top of the article detailing what was changed, why, and the exact timestamp.
- Typos and spelling mistakes that do not alter factual meaning are corrected silently.
- Readers can report factual discrepancies directly to editorial@tripur.live.
4. Conflicts of Interest & Independence
Editorial staff and contributors are barred from accepting financial remuneration, gifts, or favors that could compromise journalistic impartiality. Reporters do not cover subjects in which they hold direct personal or commercial financial interests.
5. Sensationalism & Sensitive Reporting
We do not publish graphic photographs of casualties, victim identities in sexual offence cases (as mandated under Section 228A IPC), or unverified speculation during ongoing security incidents.
6. Editorial Complaints Redressal
Readers who believe an article breaches these standards can write to:
