Agartala, June 21: The state power and agriculture minister Ratan Lal Nath on Saturday called for unified combat against drug abuse through yoga practise.

Nath along with the former Chief Minister and presently the MP of West Tripura parliamentary constituency Biplab Kumar Deb inaugurated district level celebration of 11th International Yoga Day at the historic Neermahal palace in Melaghar.

The minister participated in yoga practise and emphasised on transformative potential of yoga in building drug free society. “Yoga is not just a physical exercise—it’s a lifestyle solution that restores balance in our bodies and minds,” Nath said.

Highlighting the global significance of the day, Nath recalled that it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who proposed the idea of International Yoga Day during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2014.
