Agartala, July 07: A delegation of the of the opposition Congress party led by the PCC president Ashish Kumar Saha on Monday sough the intervention of the Director General of Police and demanded restoration of the ‘deteriorated’ law and order situation in the state.

PC president Ashish Kumar Saha alleged that violence, killing and terrorism has become a daily episode in the state under the rue of the BJP government, where the oppositions are mainly targeted and the voice of common masses are being throttled.

“We have seen how the attack was made on our MLA Gopal Ray on Sunday, when he was chairing a party meeting in his area, previously we have many such attacks on our MLA Sudip Roy Barman and other party workers and supporters,” Saha alleged.

He further said, “Worried by the emergence of the opposition parties in the state, the BJP is deploying their goons to discover attacks on common masses and the opposition party workers and leaders. BJP is now losing people’s trust.”

“The law and order situation is deteriorating in the state. We have met the DGP to seek his intervention in restoring peace in the state,” he told reporters.

Meanwhile, the congress chief demanded constituting of SIT led by senior IPS officer to make an impartial investigation into the murder of one Ashish Das of Surma in Dhalai district.
