Agartala, Aug 14: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Thursday attended a programme here at Agartala organized to mark Partition Horrors Remembrance Day to solemnly recall the immense upheaval and pain endured by countless individuals during one of the most tragic chapters in India’s history.

Dr Saha paid heartfelt tribute to the grit and resilience of those affected by the Partition, acknowledging their ability to face unimaginable loss and still find the strength to rebuild their lives.

The programme was organized at the Rabindra Hall of Maharaja Bir Bikram College under the initiative of the Higher Education Department.

“The Partition was a deep, festering wound on the heart of an independent nation. The cries of millions of Indians, rendered refugees in their own land, weighed heavy on the skies and air of India,” Dr Saha said.

He said, “Driven by the ambition to become Prime Minister, the then ruling power divided the nation based on the two-nation theory.”

“To bring this horrific chapter before the younger generation, the main programme of ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’ was organised today,” Dr Saha added.

Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Kishore Barman and others were present in the programme, which also involved the college students.
