Of these, 21,390 are pending cases before various courts, while 5,184 are pre-litigation disputes that parties have agreed to settle through the alternative dispute resolution mechanism.

The cases to be taken up cover a wide range of disputes. These include 422 motor accident compensation claims, 204 matrimonial cases, 5,084 bank loan recovery matters, and 100 disputes related to bill payments of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). In addition, 20,718 compoundable criminal cases under laws such as the MB Act, TP Act, TG Act and the Excise Act will also be considered during the proceedings.

Other matters include 28 cheque bounce cases under the Negotiable Instruments Act and 18 employment-related disputes. At the Tripura High Court, one special bench will take up 40 cases for settlement during the Lok Adalat session.

Officials said notices have already been issued to all concerned parties, informing them of the scheduled hearings. To facilitate smooth proceedings and assist litigants, help desks staffed by legal volunteers and “Nyaya Mitras” will be set up at the court premises.

The initiative is being organised under the supervision of Justice Dr. Amarnath Goud, Executive Chairman of the Tripura State Legal Services Authority. He has directed authorities to take all necessary measures to ensure the successful conduct of the Lok Adalat.

Member-Secretary Jhuma Dutta Choudhury urged citizens to take advantage of the opportunity to resolve disputes quickly and amicably without incurring legal expenses, emphasising that Lok Adalats provide a simple and effective mechanism for speedy justice.
