In a swift humanitarian response, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Ambassa, Rinku Reang, has approved immediate financial assistance of ₹25,000 from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to support the treatment of a 13-year-old girl critically injured in an electrocution incident.

The victim, Monti Modak, a resident of Ambassa Bazar, sustained severe injuries after accidentally coming into contact with a high-voltage electric wire on April 15 at around 4:30 p.m. The incident left her in critical condition, necessitating urgent medical attention and prompting quick intervention by the district administration.

According to an official sanction memo issued by the SDM’s office in Dhalai district, the relief amount has been approved in favour of her father, Shyamojit Modak, to help meet immediate medical expenses. The decision followed detailed reports submitted by the Disaster Control Management (DCM) authorities and the Ambassa Municipal Council, which highlighted the seriousness of the incident and the need for urgent financial support.

Officials stated that the sanctioned amount will be drawn from SDRF allocations under the Disaster Management head for the financial year 2024–25. Necessary instructions have already been issued to the concerned accounts and treasury departments to ensure that the funds are disbursed without delay.

The prompt action by the administration reflects a strong commitment to providing timely assistance to victims of unforeseen accidents. Authorities emphasised that such measures are aimed at reducing the financial burden on affected families during medical emergencies and ensuring that critical care is not delayed due to lack of resources.

Local residents and community members have appreciated the swift response, noting that timely government support can play a crucial role in saving lives in emergency situations. The administration has also reiterated its focus on strengthening disaster response mechanisms and extending relief to vulnerable sections of society.

This intervention highlights the importance of responsive governance and underscores the role of SDRF in delivering immediate relief during crises across Tripura.
