Kalyanpur, February 12: Sending a strong message against disruption, residents of Kalyanpur on Thursday largely rejected the nationwide strike called by Left-affiliated trade unions, as normal life continued uninterrupted across the area.

While shutdowns were reported in some parts of the state, Kalyanpur witnessed complete normalcy. Shops, weekly markets, transport services and offices functioned as usual, with no visible impact of the bandh. From early morning, markets under Kalyanpur police station — including Kalyanpur Bazaar, Bagan Bazaar, Moharcherra Bazaar, Ghilatali Bazaar, Totabari Bazaar, Mering Bazaar, Ekrai Bazaar, Uttar Maharani Pur Bazaar and Sarbang Bazaar — remained open and active.

Vehicular movement was smooth throughout the day, and both government and private establishments, including the block office and local schools, operated on schedule. There were no reports of picketing or attempts to enforce the strike in the area.

As Thursday coincided with the weekly market day in Kalyanpur, the atmosphere was particularly vibrant. Tribal communities from nearby villages participated in the busy vegetable market, while fish and meat stalls attracted significant crowds. Wholesale traders from different regions also arrived to purchase fresh produce, adding to the lively commercial activity.

The steady flow of customers and uninterrupted business transactions reflected the community’s preference for routine and economic activity over protest. Residents and traders expressed satisfaction at the peaceful environment and smooth functioning of daily life.

With markets bustling and services running normally, Kalyanpur stood out as an area unaffected by the strike, highlighting the public’s focus on stability, commerce and development.
