Agartala, May 19: In view of the nationwide general strike called by the All India State Government Employees’ Federation on May 20, the Tripura state administration has issued a special notification stating that all government offices, undertakings, and organizations under the state government will function normally on the day of the strike.
According to the notification, the strike has been called to press for several demands, including the regularization of contractual employees, and to end contractual, outsourced, and daily-wage employment practices. The Tripura Employees’ Coordination Committee (H.B. Road) has also extended support to the strike, urging state government employees and teachers to participate.
Despite this, the Tripura Government has decided not to suspend work on the day of the strike. “All offices, government undertakings, and organizations under the State Government shall remain open and function as usual on the day of the general strike,” the official statement read.
The notification further states that all government employees and those working in such undertakings and organizations are expected to perform their duties as per normal routine. Any failure to do so will be taken seriously by the administration.
Additionally, all Principal Secretaries, Secretaries, Special Secretaries, and Heads of Departments have been directed to communicate this order to all employees under their administrative control. They have also been instructed to submit an attendance report of all offices, undertakings, and organizations to the General Administration (AR) Department by 12:00 noon on May 20.
The move reflects the government’s stand on ensuring uninterrupted public services and maintaining discipline in administrative functioning during calls for strike actions.
