Agartala, May 25: Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu on Sunday flagged off the nationwide fitness movement ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ here at Agartala Ujjayanta Palace and said that this cycle rally is to increase awareness about fitness and build a pollution-free future.

The event is organised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI). Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu said that the main objective of this event, as a part of the Fit India Movement under the Khelo India project, is to increase awareness about fitness and build a pollution-free future.

The Sports Authority of India needs to take the initiative to organize such events in every district of the state, he said.

Meanwhile, the state sports and youth affairs minister Tinku Roy, who participated in the rally, said that there has been tremendous progress in the sports infrastructure in the state in the last 5 years. Initiatives will also be taken to build cycling tracks in the state.

Secretary of the Youth Affairs and Sports Department Dr P K Chakraborty, Director S B Nath, Deputy Director of Sports Authority of India Laxman Dongari, General Secretary of North-East Sports Association John F. Kharsingh and others were present in the programme.
