Agartala, June 08: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Sunday inaugurated B Division League Football tournament and said that the government is actively formulating and implementing various strategies to ensure overall development of sports in Tripura.
Dr Saha emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting sports and nurturing talent in the state. Sports not only enhance the physical and mental growth of players but also help them stay away from social evils like addiction and contribute to building a healthy society. He mentioned that the state government is working to enhance the skills of sportspersons through the development of modern sports infrastructure.
He further added that arrangements have now been made for night matches under floodlights – a first for many athletes in the state. “Numerous initiatives have been undertaken to support athletes, and modern facilities are being gradually introduced,” he said.
The B Division Club League Football Tournament kicked off with a match between a youth organization and a football club. The Chief Minister met with the players before the match and encouraged them. He also symbolically kicked off the match, marking the formal commencement of the tournament.
