Agartala, July 05: A Training-cum-Interaction Meet on Online Annual Reporting under the Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules, 2024 was organized by the Tripura State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) on Saturday at 11:00 AM in the Conference Hall at Gorkhabasti, Agartala.
The session was chaired by Dr. Bishu Karmakar, Member Secretary of TSPCB, and witnessed active participation from representatives of all 20 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and 8 District Panchayats across the state.
The Plastic Waste Management Rules, originally introduced in 2016 by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF\&CC), Government of India, aim to establish a structured system for plastic waste segregation, collection, processing, and disposal. The 2024 Amendment has introduced a major shift from manual to digital reporting by mandating online submission of annual reports via the National Dashboard on Elimination of Single Use Plastic and Effective Implementation of PWM Rules.
In his address, Manas Mukherjee, Executive Engineer, TSPCB, emphasized the necessity of familiarizing all stakeholders with the new digital mechanism to ensure timely and accurate compliance under the amended rules.
Chairperson Dr. Bishu Karmakar highlighted the statutory responsibilities of ULBs and Gram Panchayats under the new framework. He stressed the importance of the online dashboard in ensuring transparency, real-time monitoring, and streamlined data collection. He also informed that the deadline for submission of Annual Reports for the current reporting year is **15th July 2025.
A comprehensive presentation was conducted by Sri Saptarshi Roy, Project Engineer, TSPCB, who elaborated on the technical process of filling out Form-V on the portal. His session included a live demonstration and step-by-step guidance on data entry and report submission, followed by an interactive Q\&A session addressing participants’ concerns.
