Agartala, July 16: Artificial Intelligence will significantly simplify the functioning of government institutions in the days to come, said Minister for Statistics, Bikash Debbarma on Wednesday.
The minister was addressing the closing ceremony of a three-day workshop titled “Generative AI for Impact: Smart Tools for Smarter Governance” held at the IT Bhavan.
Organized by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics under the Finance Department, the workshop focused on the transformative potential of generative AI in improving governance and public service delivery. The minister highlighted the growing importance of AI across all sectors and emphasized its utility in statistical operations. He also extended his gratitude to the participants for their active engagement and urged them to adopt AI tools in various domains of public administration.
Delivering the keynote address, N.K. Santoshi, Director General of the Central Statistics Office, praised Tripura’s strides in technological advancement despite being a small state. He elaborated on the multifaceted applications of AI and stressed the need for officials to familiarize themselves with emerging technologies to improve efficiency and service delivery.
Secretary of Planning (Statistics) Abhishek Chandra, Director D. Reang, and other senior officials were also present at the event.
Over 60 officers from the Directorate of Economics and Statistics and officials from the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), Government of India, participated in the workshop. Certificates of participation were distributed by Minister Bikas Debbarma during the closing ceremony.
