Agartala, April 19: To foster tourism in Tripura, especially the aquatic tourism, the government is planning to introduce seaplane, said transport and tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Saturday.

The minister chaired a high level video conferencing with a private airline company to find the feasibility of operating seaplane in the state’s aquatic tourist destinations.

The minister said that seaplane will facilitate the tourists from abroad to directly fly to the aquatic tourist destinations in Tripura including Narikel Kunja, Chabimura and others, which perhaps will consume less time for them.

Seaplane tourism is an attractive and new form of tourism nowadays, which can create new opportunities for tourism in the state’s large water bodies, the minister said, adding that it will not only bring new experiences for tourists, but also help improve the local economy.
