Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday emphasized development, democracy, and unity while addressing a massive tribal gathering in Demdum under Unakoti district. Calling for collective progress, he urged people to reject divisive narratives and work together for a prosperous Tripura.

In his speech, the Chief Minister cautioned against what he described as misleading campaigns carried out under slogans such as “Tipraland” and “Greater Tipraland.” He stated that such narratives have created confusion among innocent tribal communities and hindered the state’s overall growth. Highlighting the government’s development agenda, he said the vision—guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi—is to build a “developed Tripura” in collaboration with the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC).

“Efforts to weaken democracy through violence, intimidation, or anarchy will not succeed,” Saha asserted. He called upon citizens to remain vigilant and united in the interest of peace, harmony, and sustained development.

The rally also witnessed a notable political development, as 215 voters from various political parties formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), reflecting what party leaders described as growing grassroots support ahead of the ADC elections.

Scheduled Caste Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das said the large participation of tribal workers demonstrated confidence that the BJP would secure all 28 seats in the forthcoming ADC polls.

State Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy added that the spontaneous turnout at the rally signaled public trust in the government’s welfare initiatives, governance model, and leadership.

The event underscored the ruling party’s focus on consolidating support in tribal areas while projecting development as its central political plank.
