Agartala: April 16: Concerns over road safety in Tripura were discussed during a meeting at the Sonar Tori Guest House in the capital, addressing issues such as reckless driving and illegal parking, which have contributed to a rise in traffic accidents in the West Tripura district. Former Chief Minister and MP Biplab Kumar Deb led the discussions, emphasizing the need for a district-specific road safety action plan to reduce fatalities.

The meeting, part of a quarterly committee initiative, was attended by Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumdar and West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar. Participants focused on identifying the causes of road accidents, implementing safety standards, and addressing illegal driving and parking practices.

Deb highlighted the importance of strict administrative measures to curb violations and urged the youth to actively promote road safety awareness among the public.
