Agartala, April 28: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday attended the closing ceremony of week long events to mark the 135th birth anniversary of the architect of Indian constitution Dr B R Ambedkar and said that Dr Ambedkar played a leading role in the economic development of the country and the formation of a society free from exploitation.
Addressing the event here at Agartala Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, Chief Minister Dr Saha said that Ambedkar’s thought is enshrined in every section and sub-section of the Indian Constitution.
“Dr. B R Ambedkar was a philosopher, economist, social reformer and freedom fighter. Among those who worked in the drafting of the country’s constitution. B R Ambedkar is one of them,” Dr Saha said, adding that as Ambedkar, belonged to an untouchable community, he had to face various forms of lawlessness and oppression during his school life. However, he established himself in the society by fighting against many adversities, hatred, hatred and insults, Dr Saha added.
He said, “Dr B R Ambedkar played a significant role in drafting the Constitution of India. Apart from this, he also showed prudence as the first Union Law Minister from 1947 to 1951. The constitution proposal also mentioned several ways of liberating the citizens from exploitation.”
Dr emphasized on working responsibly for the development of the country and said that agriculture and industry should be given priority in the economic development of the country. Economic problems will not be solved unless agriculture is promoted to industrialization, Dr Saha added.
Remembering the role of Ambedkar in developing the country, Dr Saha said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been taking various programs to establish every issue in the society with great importance. The current central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is realizing the equality dream of ‘Bharat Ratna’ Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar. Every project of the government is being implemented for the development of the weaker sections of the society and for the eradication of poverty.”
