Agartala: April 04: The Pradesh Congress has voiced serious concerns regarding alleged land scams worth crores of rupees in Tripura. Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha, during a press conference at the Pradesh Congress Bhavan, called for immediate action and warned of a larger movement across the state if no steps are taken within the next 15 days.

Mr. Saha highlighted that the issue has become a significant matter in the state, with Congress MLAs reportedly being silenced when attempting to discuss it in the Tripura Assembly. He referred to a letter dated September 18, 2023, from the DM of Sepahijala to the state government, which detailed corruption involving 1,400 kani of land and implicated two senior officials allegedly linked to land mafias. The DM, who was transferred 22 days after sending the letter, had raised concerns about unauthorized land transfers and misuse of government land.

The letter also recommended the removal and investigation of the implicated officials, Land Records and Settlement Officer Ratnajit Debbarma and Assistant Senior Computer Operator Tapas Chowdhury, to prevent potential manipulation of land records. The DM assured full cooperation in preparing the charge sheet.

Mr. Saha emphasized the need for Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha to intervene and order a CBI investigation to address the issue. He stated that if no action is taken, the Pradesh Congress will mobilize a larger movement to demand accountability and justice.
